Principal Asks Department Of Education For A Full Student

So, if you want to evaluate the process of education at Lewis-Palmer Elementary, follow this most foundational principle – look at the quality of doing in that school. See how much time kids are engaged doing something they have a genuine interest in doing. Do not be fooled with contrived activity. If you see kids obediently (or not) listening to lectures – that is truly bad doing. What kid has a genuine interest in a lecture? If you see kids, with blank expressions, filling out workbooks – that is unlikely good doing. If you see kids laboring through repetitious math problems – that is not good doing.

Gov. Rick Scott credits himself for the business growth in Florida since he has taken office. The addition of Garda World Security, a Montreal-based armored car company,Vision Airlines and Bing Energy were nearly completed while then Gov. Charlie Crist was in office. None the less Scott has taken credit for this in his effort to bolster his support and fulfill his campaign promise of creating 700,000 new jobs.

I wrote about the education of Barak Obama, then a candidate. Let’s now look into Sonya Sotomayor’s education. Like Obama, she does not have a privileged background. Born and raised in the Bronx by immigrant parents, her father dies when she was 9. She goes to Blessed Sacrament School in Soundview, and then to parochial Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx. Just like Obama, Sotomayor is not a product of public school system.

I believe that the key words here are, “education of children is a fundamental value of the people of the state of Florida”. Again our children and teachers take the hit. It is obvious that we need to revamp our education reform. I believe that if cuts are to be made to education that it should start on the administrative side and not on the backs of our children and teachers. Our teachers have not gotten a pay raise in three years. Many of our teachers are living from paycheck to paycheck.

Rethink your own attitude about being outdoors. Feel the rain on your face. Eat in the back yard. Check out that bug before you step on it. Comment on the sunset. Avoid the sarcasm when you recycle, conserve energy and talk about going green. These actions will rub off on your kids.

One survey asked kids where they like to spend their free time, and got this response: “I like it indoors best, that’s where the electricity is.” He was honest, and hardly alone. Author Richard Louv calls this, “Nature Deficit Disorder,” in a book called Last Child In the Woods. Of course there is actually no such disease, and certainly no pill for it as well. There are, however, consequences related to this “disease.” Childhood obesity is up, science scores are down.

We were outspent 10-2. The Democrats spent approximately M on Senator Wilhelmi’s campaign. The last two months of the campaign he bought 18 cable stations, all day parts. Not only were we unable to respond to his misleading ads, we were unable to promote our message. He also had mailers going out almost daily.
